Left 4 Dead 2 Details
As any PC gamer will tell you, Left 4 Dead was one of 2008′s biggest games. Consequentially, Left 4 Dead 2 was one of the biggest games at this year’s E3. What is it, exactly? Well, it’s essentially a multiplayer focused first-person shooter, action game, involving guns, chainsaws, and zombies. A lot of zombies!
Many people were surprised that Valve went the route of producing another full-fledged installment, as opposed to simply releasing downloadable content. In any case, Left 4 Dead 2 is on it’s way, and it is a true sequel. It brings dozens of new features and levels of content to the table. There are new characters, new weapons, new maps, and five whole campaigns in opposed to the original Left 4 Dead’s measly four levels. In addition to new ranged weapons, new melee weapons include everything from axes to frying pans to chainsaws. In the first game, the focus on melee combat was minimal. New ranged weapons include a silenced submachine gun, a new model of assault rifle, and a semi-automatic sniper rifle, etc.
Another major addition is that of daylight levels. In the original game, most every level took place at night. So, what does this mean? Well, since most of Left 4 Dead 2 appears to take place during the day, in terms of all-around gameplay it will be a lot harder to avoid enemies, who can see and find you all the more faster. This brings me to the fact that L4D2′s new enemies are going to pack a lot more punch. One such opponent, the Charger, is capable of rushing forward and knocking multiple players off their feet. If such a thing were to happen suddenly while you and your friends were barely holding off an army of zombies…things can get very complicated, to say the least.
Considering the fact that Valve released the original Left 4 Dead a matter of months ago (November 18, 2008), a very impressive job has been done here in terms of the new gameplay features. Left 4 Dead 2 is scheduled to be released on the Xbox 360 and PC this November 17th, 2009.
